EXCURSION!!!
On Friday, 8th June, the Year 12 Standard English class visited the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre for a production of their Module A Prescribed Text, The Shoe Horn Sonata, by playwright John Misto. This performance, staged by Emu Heights Productions Inc., had them captivated and proved to be a valuable resource to their ever-growing understanding of the play and its meaning. Furthermore, an invaluable treat for the students was the Question and Answer time. As it so happened, the playwright himself, John Misto, made a surprise appearance, answering a number of questions for the hungry minds in great detail, evoking many emotions with his stories. A play that pays tribute to the Australian Army Nurse Prisoners of War in WWII, Misto explained to the students that he wrote the play as a memorial to the women, of which they have been neglected for far too long. He is quoted as saying, "I do not have the power to build a memorial. So I write this play instead...". Many of the students were able to recognise and value the fact that they were a privileged few, having had an opportunity that possibly no other students in the state of NSW have had.

BUSY BUSY BUSY
Year 12 have been very busy this week, pushing through another week of learning, completing project work, engaging in valuable learning sessions and spending time investing in their ever interesting friendships. Its always good to see students take an interest in their studies and this week I have been able to chat to a few students in detail about some of their interesting projects.
Common Room!
From next monday on, year 12 will have access to M5 at lunchtimes to use as their common room, the college has provided a fridge, kettle and toaster for their use and of course the room will provide a great space for some rest and great conversation at lunchtimes. Students are reminded to treat the room with great care, to leave the blinds and door open and to allow the room to remain set up as a classroom for the next learning sessions after lunch. I look forward to seeing the room providing a valuable space for our HSC students.
